We wanted to do something special for our wedding rings, so we decided to work with local artist Adam Clark at
Scintillant Studio in San Francisco to schedule our own, personal
do-it-yourself workshop and make rings for each other.
We met with Adam back in March to get a feel for what he had to offer, and within a short time, we had set up our ring-making session for Sunday, June 23rd. Adam's personality, enthusiasm, and sense of humor were both outrageous and contagious. We knew that with his expertise, patience, and understanding (he's been doing this for more than 25 years), we'd be able to make something unique and memorable, beyond just the 7-hour workshop, that would last our lifetimes.
And forget the "three month salary" rule for the traditional engagement/wedding ring costs. We were able to make and personalize our forever-bands for each other (from melting the metals... to shaping, hammering, and sanding, and polishing the rings... down to engraving a small, personal message inside each band for the other), for a very reasonable session fee and the cost of the materials (we chose white gold).
We'd recommend
Adam and this
workshop to anyone! Here are a few images from our session.
